Welcome to the Newton Abbot Branch
of the Devon Beekeepers' Association

Our Association in South Devon now supports over 100 members. Our purpose is to promote bees and beekeeping.

We currently implementing ambitious plans to develop our Branch Apiary - which includes extending the area we lease and building a clubhouse for teaching and as a place for members to meet to discuss bees and catch up.

There is still a lot to do - the clubhouse needs completing, help is always welcome in the branch apiary and there are always beekeeping events which need your support. Please contact one of our team - we are always pleased to see new faces.

Asian Hornet Danger!
Message from our Regional Bee Inspector

As you know there is a great threat that the Asian Hornet may arrive in the UK in the near future.

In France, Spring trapping of the young queen hornets has been found to be an effective way to reduce the number of Asian Hornet nests.

Please take a moment to read about the Asian Hornet Trap [free download shown to the right]. Please report any discoveries of this this insect to me or the National Bee Unit.

Best wishes

Adam Vevers, Regional Bee Inspector
